Resolutions Worth Keeping

5. STOP Settling This is similar to stop tolerating, but not exactlyrepparttar same. Where in your life do you talk yourself into settling for less than you want, need, or desire? Are you willing to stop telling yourself no? I am. If you really want something, make a plan to get it –even if it takes you longer than it would if you settled—because when you makerepparttar 129379 investment in what you really want, you’ll find you want a lot less!

6. Be kinder and gentler with yourself I think we’ve become too hard on ourselves. We tell ourselves all kinds of crazy stories about what we “should” be achieving, how we “should” be spending time and all we should be getting done. Then we get frustrated because we’re just not up to snuff! Our ridiculous expectations sabotage us daily. Imagine if we just eliminated “should” from our vocabulary? Try it for a week. Or, a day. How much kinder and gentler do you feel?

7. Take stock Where is there abundance in your life? Where do you have it justrepparttar 129380 way you want it? Where have you made huge gains toward being who you most want to be? Take stock of what is great about you, your life, your relationships, your job, your home, etc… In this New Year focus onrepparttar 129381 good things you have chosen for yourself rather than on allrepparttar 129382 deficits and imperfections. Resolve to take stock continually and appreciate allrepparttar 129383 good you can, and do, bring into your life.

8. Get some sunshine every day For those of you in sunshine states, this is probably easy. But forrepparttar 129384 rest of us suffering throughrepparttar 129385 dreary and long stretch of winter ahead, making sure we actually see sunlight and breath fresh air duringrepparttar 129386 day is critical to feeling happy and well. Don’t sit at your desk fromrepparttar 129387 dark of morning torepparttar 129388 dark of night without going outside. Make it a point, even onrepparttar 129389 snowiest day, to step outside and breathe inrepparttar 129390 air duringrepparttar 129391 midday.

Darkness is an Essential Part of Abundance

And yet, lack of sleep threatens our health in profound ways. Sleep research has become a hot topic in medicine. Many of us suffer because we don’t sleep enough. Sleep researchers are claiming that many of us overweight, not because we eat too much, but because we don’t get enough sleep. The lack of sleep throws off our biochemistry. What is especially significant isrepparttar effect of sleep deprivation on our brains. The latest research indicates that our bodies don’t need sleep but our brains do. One ofrepparttar 129377 primary tools used to abuse prisoners is to deprive them of sleep. And yet, that is what we do to ourselves. We deprive ourselves of sleep in our unyielding quest after our elusive goals. We don’t allow ourselves enough dark time to rest our brains. The consequences are disease, stress, and confusion. Sabbath The Sabbath is a uniquely Judeo-Christian concept. Many people have rebelled againstrepparttar 129378 idea of keeping Sabbath. They see it as a time of restriction, without understanding thatrepparttar 129379 concept of Sabbath was a truly revolutionary and liberating idea in religious history. Sabbath blessesrepparttar 129380 idea that that people are neither slaves nor machines. We are not meant to work constantly. We are meant to rest periodically. To take stock. To slow down. To have one day each week devoted to something other than work.

Choose To Celebrate The Darkness How does any of this relate to abundance? Constant striving demonstrates a failure to trust inrepparttar 129381 essential abundance ofrepparttar 129382 universe. A choice to live an “Abundantly Alive Now!” life is rooted inrepparttar 129383 consciousness that there is enough. In this dark time ofrepparttar 129384 year, you can choose to celebraterepparttar 129385 darkness and slow down, rest, and rejuvenate.
