Yet how did all great public speakers become great public speakers? They stood up and they spoke to audiences! They attempted it, learned what would make it better next time, made improvements and kept practicing.

“What we have to learn to do, we learn by doing”. (Aristotle).

Anyone who works in an office will be familiar with post-it notes. We use them for messages, we use them to mark pages in documents and we use them to highlight areas of information. The post-it note evolved as a result of a failed attempt to make glue. The glue would not stick permanently.

Imagine how different life would be if only outcome you desired was to have fun doing it? What if, instead of focusing on doing it right, you just jumped in knowing that there is no failure only feedback?

If you permitted yourself to make 5 mistakes a day, what things might you now be attempting? What opportunities would open up before you?

What is more important getting it right, doing it well, or learning and growing?

Give yourself permission to make mistakes. Make learning and having fun your only outcome.

Try it in this way: Use image of someone who you respect and know something about. This is so you can easily imagine what they might say. It can be a fictional character - in fact, this may be even better. Explain situation to this person, and listen to what they have to say.

Remember those WWJD pins and stickers? WWJD stands for "What Would Jesus Do?" Young christians wore these pins (still do, I believe) as a source of guidance. Whether you are a christian or not, you can understand how in a time of confusion, this simple question can immediately clarify situation and allow a right decision.

Think about this for a moment. All information necessary to make a right decision might be there in a young man's head already, and yet there is confusion. Imagining what Jesus would do or say is all it takes to "see" answer.

So start talking with your imaginary friends (in your head please). Ask for help with personal, business, moral and any other problems. This is a powerful way of drawing on power of your unconscious mind, and it will work for you if you give it a chance.
