Where do you feel most like your favorite self? What are you doing? With whom are you interacting? What's around you? What values are you honoring? I know that for me to feel fully myself I must be learning, connecting, and laughing. My Highly Operative Me Environment will include challenges, other people, and fun. Someone else's H.O.M.E. might have solitude, nature, and physical activity. Another's might have music, computers, and knotty problems to tackle. Look around and see where you feel most alive. Now ask how much time you spend there. Ifrepparttar answer's not "most ofrepparttar 123522 time" it's time to move back H.O.M.E.

If it seems impossible to change to a new environment maybe there are ways to adaptrepparttar 123523 existing one to be more supportive. For example, you may not feel able to leave your current job, but perhaps you could take on new responsibilities to make it more challenging, or delegate to make it less stressful. Maybe you can't afford to rentrepparttar 123524 perfect studio space yet, but you could clean out that spare room and start there. Start somewhere. Take that pottery class. Join that biking club. Choose to put yourself where you thrive.

To turn your current reality into a Highly Operative Me Environment ask yourself: 1. Where do I feel fully myself? 2. What values of mine are being honored there? 3. How could I apply those values elsewhere in my life?

You don’t need ruby slippers. All you need is to knowrepparttar 123525 way H.O.M.E.

A3: "Rewrite your resume for every position you apply for." Q: How best can you present yourself on an interview? · Clean appearance · Good communication skills · Look like you’ll be pleasant to work with · Wear a nice suit that fits · Come in prepared to meet people forrepparttar first time, have a smile on your face – genuine one, not fake. · Enjoy yourself, you've maderepparttar 123521 cut. · Be enthusiastic. Q: So once you're inrepparttar 123522 door, it'srepparttar 123523 emotional intelligence competencies that count? A: "Yes. If you're actually called in, it's a matter of not talking them out of hiring you." Q: Is it a numbers game then? A: "No, it'srepparttar 123524 opposite of a numbers game. Apply only for jobs you haverepparttar 123525 capabilities for. Write a unique resume for each position. Don't just go to monster.com and click 'send resume.' Be selective." Q: Do you post your positions online? A: "About 50% of positions are filled through referrals. I post all my positions on www.monster.com. Also they should check www.careerbuilders.com ." Q: Why do you think there's such concern about age? A: "I don't know. It’s screamingly wrong. Especially in software, if you can find someone with 25 years experience, they’re gold. The perspective is so mind-bogglingly good when you get a team that’s diverse in age. Look, according torepparttar 123526 Age Discrimination & Employment Act, a 'protected older worker' is anyone over 40. Do you have any idea how many people that covers?" Q: What about negative things in your work history? A: "The way we look at it in HR isrepparttar 123527 reason you're here is because something wasn't right where you were. We've all been there. Why is it any worse to have been fired? Don’t sugar coat things. I’ll ask your reason for leaving and I’ll check your references." A2: "The Texas Truth in Hiring Act says any ex-employer can give any information as long as it’s true. So I might ask you former boss, 'Did you fire her?' 'No.' 'Did you ask for her resignation?' 'Yes.' 'Why?' 'Because ....'. I askrepparttar 123528 candidate beforehand, 'When I call your references, am I going to hear anything you might consider negative?' and then I listen."
