Life! In Grandfather's Kitchen

Onrepparttar antique oak table, a Louis L'amour novel sits propped up againstrepparttar 126850 centerpiece with a clothespin onrepparttar 126851 page where he left off. Not far from there sitsrepparttar 126852 New Testament with another clothespin biting a page of II Corinthians, chapter 13. His silverware and china sit like polished soldiers awaiting inspection, and an extra place setting sleeps late for still-dozing Grandmother. The trill of a teaspoon dancing inside a coffee cup always fills my heart with warmth and security because, to me, it wasrepparttar 126853 morning song of Grandfather's spiritual presence. As sure as his faith in God, he sat inrepparttar 126854 bright yellow kitchen every morning with a hearty breakfast, repparttar 126855 best coffee in town, his Bible, and his long time companion, Louis L'amour. That'srepparttar 126856 way I choose to remember him, sitting inrepparttar 126857 light ifrepparttar 126858 sun (Son).

An Opportunity to Turn

Signing petitions will not make our world better. Neither will hanging flags or lighting candles (even though we do so because we care). Though, if we really want to make a difference, we can start believing that God meant what He said.

Consider who might be on your throne. Is your opinionrepparttar ultimate authority? How about your religion? Or, your preacher? Or, maybe a church committee? Even your mate? Your children? Friends?

God wants His throne back;repparttar 126849 throne of our heart. It is really that simple. The Kingdom of God comes not with observation; not from memorizing every verse of scripture or from beingrepparttar 126850 perfect example either.

God gets lonely, too. More than anything we could possibly offer God, He desires an intimate relationship with us. Do we get our daily walk from a book of dead laws or from a Living God who walks and talks with us? God will come down and dwell with us once He is welcomed.

While it is never God's will for people to hurt people, anger is of concern in that ~ as long as we place blame elsewhere, we missrepparttar 126851 ultimate truth that 'we did it to ourselves'.

"If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land," II Ch. 7:14.

God wants to love us in ways we never dreamed. But, He can only do so once He has first place. Let us not wait for another tragedy.
