I bought machine but determined not to use fax part. After all, somebody has to stand up for what they believe. Not everybody should succumb to latest trend.

I was doing fine until ending up in hospital. When I got out, I needed to fax a document to hospital. Now I faced a taxing dilemma.

Do I go to office store and fax my document, or do I try out my new printer/copier/scanner/fax machine?

Precedence finally gave way to convenience. I took my document to my new machine and figured out how to fax it to hospital.

Not being confident in my technical knowledge, I called hospital office to check on faxed document. Much to my surprise person on other end said in a very cheery voice, "Yes, I have faxed document right here in my hand."

I must admit, although I hate doing so, faxing from my house was much easier than going to office store.

I now knew how to fax a document anywhere in world, but I had nothing to fax to anyone in world. I just stood there looking at my machine trying to think of something to fax.

Even though I knew how to fax a document, I still did not know how to receive a fax.

Several days ago, a friend called and said he had a document he wanted me to have right away. He then asked ominous question, "Do you have a fax machine?"

I began to say no, but hesitated and confessed I had a fax machine but did not know how to receive faxes. It was humiliating to make such a confession, but it was true.

"It's simple," he said, "hang up phone and I'll dial again and let machines talk to one another."

This caused no small discomfort. To think these machines are talking to one another behind my back is most disturbing. What are they saying about me behind my back?

Now that I come to think about it, I have heard sounds similar to snickering coming from general direction of my printer/scanner/copier/fax machine. I don't mind Big Brother watching over me, but I do mind some machine making jokes with other machines about me.

When it comes to "new things," God is master. This is what He promises to do for us. "Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new." (2 Corinthians 5:17 KJV.)

Put that in your printer and fax it.

Now don’t get me wrong we are a country of dreamers who fail to carry out our dreams because we are to busy making excuses for why our dreams would never have worked in first place. We seem to think that when someone asks us to solve a problem or perform a task that we don’t want to do we just come up with those four little words,” I can’t do it”. Now I don’t know about you but most people can’t because they do not even think trying to see if they can.

A good example of this is person who would like to go back to school after 15 or 20 years. In their heart they have already said that is going to be tough and so on and so on. Now if they would have expended one ounce of energy they used to make up all those excuses they probably would have gotten an A in their first four classes.

I can’t or I can it is such a simple choice but one that ways heavily on our mind. Even now you might be thinking I can’t write an article like this one when you never really tried to see if you could. When you are done here pick up a pencil or get on that computer and start writing.

Your mind is a powerful tool. The trick is to not use it for making excuses but to use it for carrying out your dreams. Teach yourself to say I can and I will instead of I can’t because I won’t
