Helping Others - What Did Jesus Say?Written by David Hopkins

Then since this is case our first priority should be to ensure that justice is carried out around us, that we show mercy to our "neighbors," and that we practice our faith and not just talk about it, while letting go all stereotypes, forms of discrimination and hatred. TREASURE IN HEAVEN A rich young man was wealthy enough for this life but he wanted to know about eternal life. He was unsure of his destiny and came to Jesus seeking security for his future. Luke 18:18-25 And a certain ruler asked him, saying, Good Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life? And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? none is good, save one, that is, God. Thou knowest commandments, Do not commit adultery, Do not kill, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Honour thy father and thy mother. And he said, All these have I kept from my youth up. Now when Jesus heard these things, he said unto him, Yet lackest thou one thing: sell all that thou hast, and distribute unto poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, follow me. And when he heard this, he was very sorrowful: for he was very rich. And when Jesus saw that he was very sorrowful, he said, How hardly shall they that have riches enter into kingdom of God! For it is easier for a camel to go through a needle's eye, than for a rich man to enter into kingdom of God. Notice how Jesus did not challenge young ruler's claims about his life, but said that he still lacked just one more thing. He then told young man to sell all that he had, distribute to poor, and he would have treasure in heaven. This focused on his wealth and caused rich man to become very sorrowful because his money was obviously most important to him. However, Jesus clearly makes service to others last indication of fitness for eternal life aside from keeping ten commandments. Therefore real wealth involves following Jesus by living not to be served, but to serve others and to devote one's life to well being of others.

Continued from page 1 “My little children” We are little Children of Father and we tend to make mistakes. We will not sin willfully, for it is no longer in our nature to sin. For we are of seed of our Father in Heaven. But we, as Paul stated, still flawed by very fact that we are still in flesh and flesh is weak. I feel in my spirit that I must include following verses. Rom 7:8-25 But sin, taking occasion by commandment, wrought in me all manner of concupiscence. For without law sin was dead. For I was alive without law once: but when commandment came, sin revived, and I died. And commandment, which was ordained to life, I found to be unto death. For sin, taking occasion by commandment, deceived me, and by it slew me. Wherefore law is holy, and commandment holy, and just, and good. Was then that which is good made death unto me? God forbid. But sin, that it might appear sin, working death in me by that which is good; that sin by commandment might become exceeding sinful. For we know that law is spiritual: but I am carnal, sold under sin. For that which I do I allow not: for what I would, that do I not; but what I hate, that do I. If then I do that which I would not, I consent unto law that it is good. Now then it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me. For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not. For good that I would I do not: but evil which I would not, that I do. Now if I do that I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me. I find then a law, that, when I would do good, evil is present with me. For I delight in law of God after inward man: But I see another law in my members, warring against law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to law of sin which is in my members. O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from body of this death? I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with mind I myself serve law of God; but with flesh law of sin. Many a Christian around world, are being persecuted for their belief in Jesus Christ. We must renew ourselves in Spirit and be ready to suffer with those who suffer, as we are, One in Body with Christ. We as Christians are not an island unto ourselves but we are a guiding light to world, we are in world but not of world. In world to guide world to Christ Righteous. Remember what I stated at beginning of this sermon? Lets look again. We work and cannot obtain, we save and spend more, we fight and loose ground, we obtain and have less, we learn and understand little, we pray and little is accomplished. 1Co 15:2 By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. Tit 3:1 put them in mind to be subject to principalities and powers, to obey magistrates, to be ready to every good work, 2Ti 2:14 Of these things put them in remembrance, charging them before Lord that they strive not about words to no profit, but to subverting of hearers. 1Ti 4:6 If thou put brethren in remembrance of these things, thou shalt be a good minister of Jesus Christ, nourished up in words of faith and of good doctrine, whereunto thou hast attained.I pray that this sermon has helped all of us understand our mission for Christ.
