Get a Coach and Make Your Resolutions Happen This YearWritten by Susan Dunn, Professional Coach
Continued from page 1 ACCOUNTABILITY Someone to be accountable to who's on your side, and pulling for you is a gift you give yourself. Coaching clients are high-functioning and successful. They've "proved" they can self-start and self-motivate. Having someone to touch base with, brainstorm with, and celebrate success with is a treat. It's an extension of your social support network that will greatly increase your well-being. It's a step up ladder from "needs" to "wants." WHY STAND AT THE CROSSROADS ALONE? Most coaching clients are in a transition-or they will be by time coaching is over! Coaching moves you ahead in your life. The questions isn't "Why would you want a coach?" it's "Why wouldn't you want a coach?" Coaches bring clarity. We're all on inside of our own lives looking out. The coach has big picture that you can't have. GETTING ORGANIZED Hiring a coach will get your organized. Most coaches have a program for organization. I use Gooding Accountability System(tm). Once you have clarity and know how to get organized, things falls into place. IDEAS & IMPLEMENTATION A good coach can feed you ideas, push you farther than you might yourself, and also give resources for implementation. One of advantages of being a coach is that I talk to people all day long in different walks of life who give me information. I have clients who are web designers, intellectual property attorneys, therapists, social workers, IS specialists, marketers, animal communicators, paralegals, telemarketers, engineers ... list goes on and on. I have a "feed" to a huge resource of great minds. USER FRIENDLY Coaching is conducted over phone and by email. There are many obvious advantages to this. · No static. It's tremendously helpful not to see or be with a client. It removes all sorts of preconceptions and allows great focus. · Time-effective. Neither client nor coach has to worry about what we have on, how we look, what office looks like, transportation or waiting time. · Confidentiality. Other professionals you use are in your home town and smaller town, more confidentiality problems. My clients are all over world; at this time I don't even have one in my home state. · No insurance, no managed care. Managed care is not dictating terms of contract and no one is reporting on what goes on in sessions. More and more people are becoming concerned about confidentiality issues with insurance, and rightly so. HOW TO FIND YOUR COACH All coaches offer a complimentary coaching session. This is because "fit" is important. You can find coaches on a search engine, or by going to www.coachfederation.org or www.coachville.com . Check out their website, give them a call and sample wares.

Case in point. Showers from bird of paradise are a part of life. And, I guess we'll just have to accept that. But, what we don't have to accept is to let that bird dump on us till we have frogs coming out of our ears. And, one of easiest things we can do is……..look up and then move.Sounds simple, but remember Pharaoh. He looked up and when he did, he saw frogs in his bed, he saw frogs in his kitchen, in his pajama's, hmmm…. I just had a thought, I wonder what he found in his pants when he put them on in morning? hehehe… I think we all have a little bit of a Pharaoh in us.What did I just eat? So, what do we do? Well, we look up alright and we see bird of paradise, in all his shinning glory, raining down snow balls on us, at least that's what he tells us it is, and we stand there just like Bozo clown lapping it up with a big grin on our face and saying hmmm… good. And then in morning Bozo , sees mess all over our face and realizes bird, lied to us and it really wasn't snow balls at all, but something much more tasty, yuk, and we vow never to let that happen to us again. And, all along, we just stayed there till frogs found their way into our pajamas. Don't Rub Where there's already a rash! I don't care what kind of circumstances you face. It really doesn't matter. You can make them worse by staying where you're at. Sometimes just a small change can make dramatic improvements. Our problem is: when bird is making his shower upon us, we don't always see "little" changes making any change at all. And, sometimes we can't even see little changes, because we're so caught up in , we don't see and can't even recognize we should do something so simple as, move. Make this New Year a resolution to do little things, when in heat of battle. What are they? Most of time they are so small and insignificant that you will believe they will not have any impact on your situation. You might not be able to stop bird of paradise from flying over your head and dumping on you, but you don't have to stand there and let him tell you its snow balls.
