The Pritkin Principle Diet This diet focuses on restricting calories and eating more "watery" foods that fill you up quicker. (It follows same principle that suggests you should drink a full glass of water before each meal to make your stomach feel full faster. It allows fruits, vegetables, pasta, oatmeal, soups, salads, and low-fat dairy, but limits protein sources to lean meats, poultry and seafood. This is a low-fat diet that offers plenty of fruits and vegetables, but it can be low in calcium. The Protein Power Diet This is a very high-protein, low-carbohydrate diet. It allows for lots of meats and fats but limits that consumption of fruits and vegetables. This is a very restrictive diet that limits healthy foods like whole grains and beans. It is very high in fat, especially saturated fat and it is very low in calcium. Power Busters This is a low-carbohydrate diet that is high in fat and protein. Fruits and grain products are forbidden, but high-fat meats and dairy products are allowed. Like many other low-carb diets, Power Busters diet is high in fat, high in saturated fat, and low in calcium. Volumetrics The Volumetrics diet is a restricted calorie diet that allows fruits, vegetables, pasta, oatmeal, soups, salads, lean meats, poultry, seafood and dairy. High fat food and "dry" foods like crackers, pretzels, and popcorn are restricted. It is low in saturated fat and provides an ample amount of fruits and vegetables.. Weight Watchers This diet does not restrict followers to a set meal plan. Dieters are able to plan their own diet every day following a point system that allows dieter to spend a certain "allowance" in each category. This diet allows moderate fat and protein intake and high carbohydrate consumption. Generally, vegetables and whole grain products have lowest point value and high fat foods "cost" most amount of points. The Zone This diet is moderately high in protein and low in carbohydrates. It allows low fat foods like chicken and fish and plenty of fruits and vegetables. But whole grains are restricted. This is a healthy eating plan, although it is low in calcium. | | Is Nutrition Really Important?Written by Neesha Dosanjh Meminger
Continued from page 1
Again, result is an insatiable hunger, this time in our bodies. Americans are most overfed, yet undernourished peoples on planet. Our Overarching culture, at same time that it removes most of nutrition in our grains and produce, offers us sugar-coated empty calories to assuage pangs of deprivation. In much same way that we lose our sense of a true spiritual connection and replace it with material profit- driven “fixes”; we are nutritionally starving while stuffing ourselves with synthetic versions of food that grows naturally in wild. Nature in wild that we were meant to have a spiritual, as well as physical connection to. If our bodies are starving for real nutrition, our minds are not functioning at optimum levels, and our emotions follow suit. This inevitably affects Spirit Modality, and consequently, Overarch. The Overarch is our social, political, cultural, geographic, and historical position in world. It is how we interact with all of these elements, and how they, in turn, interact with us. It is relatively clear how Overarch impacts us; it is often less clear how we impact our Overarch. Quite simply, if we take premise that micro is macro, or personal is global, we begin to see how we can have a tremendous effect on our Overarch. All that we do on an individual level, in our personal day-to-day lives, is precisely what is happening in larger, wider world. Take, for example, our overfed and undernourished selves in this part of world – one of most affluent and powerful nations in world. Add to that a spiritual, or soul-hunger, and a celebration of mediocrity. Consider, too, that micro is macro, and that for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. With these factors combined, it is not difficult to see why planet is in its current condition. It is also not difficult to see why there is a growing surge, a powerful global movement, toward evolution. More and more people are beginning to understand, whether on a conscious level, or a sub-conscious level, that change is an absolute, dire necessity. We all basically want same things: a deeper connection to a spiritual core, a feeling of being connected to all of life, to manifest our greatness, and actualize our full potential. What we disagree on is how to accomplish these goals. I say answer lies in making connections. And, given fact that each Modality has deeply embedded roots in all of others, my response to question of whether nutrition is really important in grand scheme of energy realm is: absolutely.
