Blinded by Science (and Math)Written by Thomas Morgan aka The Irishsetter

As far as dice influencing. There is no scientific proof that it works. Even for people like me, who have thousands and thousands of documented practice throws. That doesn’t qualify as proof. Why? One, because sample is still too small, and I have a vested interest in outcome. I’ve proven it sufficiently to myself, but that’s not scientific proof. The same theory holds true for detractors. They can quote specific laws of physics which “prove” why dice influencing is impossible. The problem is there are other theories that indicate it is possible. To my knowledge, no credible dice influencing trials have been done. Frankly, I hope no real scientific study is ever conducted on dice influencing as it most assuredly would cause casinos to take immediate action. Even within dice influencing community you’ll hear statements like our throwing method is superior because it’s “grounded in math and science.” Like Herbal Viagra and sugarless gum advertisements, without independent verification and thousands and thousands of trials, this statement is marketing, not science. If you’re on fence about efficacy of dice influencing, prove to yourself whether it works or not, for as cheaply as possible. Don’t let my word, or anyone elses sway you one way or other since there are no independent studies to base your decision on. It’s never too late to brush up on your math and science skills, and you’re an adult so never hesitate to ask questions or do research. The ever hopeful gambler is particularly prone to being blinded by science and psuedo-science because cold hard cash and riches galore are at stake. Please don’t be influenced because someone uses scientific or mathematical jargon. Don’t be impressed by statistics that are not independently verified. In short, don’t be blinded by science (or math). ~woof~

Finally, after a little more than an hour, I needed a rest. I handed Doc two green cheques and said, “Play. Ride wave. Just quit thinking so much! If you lose, then it’s my money. I’ll be back in 5 minutes.” I called for color and went in search of a drink. As I walked away from table, I heard Doc quietly ask for six and eight to be placed for $6 each. As it turned out, it was two drinks and 25 minutes before I returned. I found that Doc had indeed been riding wave. With a little assistance from my two other friends, Doc had made a tidy profit. Apparently little old lady at table’s end, (who, to this day my pals claim was blind) had just concluded a looooong roll with what they were calling ‘Seeing Eye Dice.’ Doc was no longer mulling over probabilities and table corrections, but whether he should “come down with his place bets after two hits or three…” Doc turned toward shooter, and yelled “C’mon shoota shoota, SaWING!” In fifteen years that I’d known him, I don’t think I’d ever seen him so animated! Sadly, rest of our group was due in from airport, and it was time to meet them back at hotel. “Time to go gents.” I said, pointing at my watch. The look on Doc’s face made me think for a moment, that we might have to physically drag him from table. After a stop at cashier’s booth, while Doc and I waited for my buddies to return from restroom, he recounted for me, in vivid detail, every bet he made, every regression, every win. “What a rush!” he said, “Craps REALLY gets under your skin. It’s addictive! We’ll play later tonight, right?” And to that I said, as another raucous cheer came from craps table we had vacated, “Welcome Doctor, to our humble madhouse.”
