Ancient Writers Reveal Penalty of Eternal DeathWritten by Paul Griffitts

The dream of men in past ages was that there might be some way to obtain immortality. Some philosophers dreamed that man had an immortal soul. But they did not know God, nor His Word. Only One has had immortality so far. That is Lord Jesus Christ: 1 Timothy 6:16 Who only hath immortality, dwelling in light which no man can approach unto; whom no man hath seen, nor can see: to whom be honour and power everlasting. Amen. That which is immortal cannot die. It is not subject to death. It is man's desire. Can it be obtained by mortal man? Do Scriptures hold out any hope that man could ever become immortal? Yes. But this obtaining of immortality is only on God's terms, not by any philosophies or of heathen or any creeds. It is only reasonable that one must partake of divine nature in order to have a resurrection and immortality. The idea that Achilles should be mortal in his heel shows foolishness of heathen mind. True immortality has been brought to light only by gospel. It is incorruption. 2 Timothy 1:10 But is now made manifest by appearing of our Saviour Jesus Christ, who hath abolished death, and hath brought life and immortality to light through gospel: The traditions of men and their religious institutions tell us that immortality is put on at death. But that is contrary to Scripture. There we are told that dead shall be raised incorruptible. Then is when this mortality puts on immortality and this corruption puts on incorruption, and not some time before. 1 Corinthians 15:52 In a moment, in twinkling of an eye, at last trump: for trumpet shall sound, and dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. 1 Corinthians 15:53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. 1 Corinthians 15:54 So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory. So early writers knew The Truth and taught what Jesus Christ and apostles taught, shouldn't we? Romans 6:23 For wages of sin is death; but gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

God says he did not create heaven and earth in vain but formed them to be inhabited yet in Genesis chapter 1 verse 2 God tells us earth was without form and void. These words in Hebrew language are tohu and bahu and are always translated nought, vain, vanity, waste, wilderness, ruin, emptiness, void. In Isaiah 45:18 these words are translated vain and we see that God did not create in vain He created with design for them to be inhabited. If He did not create heaven and earth in vain but formed them to be inhabited then word was is a bad translation when used in Genesis 1:2. The word translated was in Genesis 1:2 is Hebrew word hayah and means became which would be correct translation. So world was not without form and void or in vain waste it became that way and then God set out to re-establish it. In all following verses Bible does not say God created (bara)but that He said (amar) or commanded and it was so and it was good. The reason for this is because things needed to be brought back together and their components were already in existence having been created earlier they were now in disarray or chaos and so God set about to re-establish them which took six days. From this work He rested on seventh. We have another reference to this in New Testament its in 2 Peter: 2 Peter 3:5 For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by word of God heavens were of old, and earth standing out of water and in water: 2 Peter 3:6 Whereby world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished: 2 Peter 3:7 But heavens and earth, which are now, by same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men. Some will say this is talking about flood but that is not what Word of God says for world then did not perish but waters receded. If truth of God’s Word was taught in our schools today than all would fit, science and Scripture, for dinosaur bones, ancient geology and astrophysics all which say world is billions of years old would agree in perfect harmony as they must with wonderful Word of God.
