The keyword must appear in every sentence of first two paragraphs. The keyword must appear in links that reside in content of web page and in menu. I suggest that you visit http://www.keyworddensity.com/ to get more information and check your pages regarding their keyword density. The third element to be optimized is word proximity of keyword’s words. Word proximity is distance between words of keyword. For example, if you keyword is “earn money online”, then obviously it is better having as “title” metatag of page phrase: “Earn Money Online – Take advantage of this opportunity and earn money online!”, than having phrase: “Earn Money Online - Discover best way to earn money while working online!”. In second occasion keyword does not appear two times in title, since words “earn”, “money” and “online” are not all together in second appearance, as they are in first occasion. Try to improve word proximity of keyword in metatags and in text as much as you can, but do not make page unreadable from a human for this reason. As Tasos always say: ”You give something to take something”. The better word proximity in page, worst readability of it, or vice versa. The fourth element to be optimized is “alt” metatag of images in page. Each image in an html page has a metatag called “alt”, from word “alternative”. This tag serves as an alternative way to say to reader what this image is about, in case his browser does not support images (it may be a text browser, like first browsers, 8-10 years ago). Or visitor may decide to deactivate this option in his browser (every browser gives you option to not download images of a web page in order to decrease download times). Well, Search Engines take in consideration this “alt” tag, which resides in properties of an image and can be accessed in every WYSIWYG html editor by right clicking on image. The “alt” tag must be keyword of web page in every image of this page. The fifth element to take in consideration is location of appearances of keyword in web page. The higher it appears in web page, better. This is same with rule: “try to include keyword in every sentence in title, subtitle and first two paragraphs of text”. The sixth rule in optimization of a web page is to format keyword. It is better to make it just bold than have it written in other font, larger letters or italics. Search Engines takes in special consideration words that are bolded, because readers can see them easily, so Search Engines assume that these phrases have to do with main theme of page. In this rule I must include another optimization tip that can help you get a better relevance without spoiling your page. You must format your title and subtitle as H1 (it comes from word Heading 1). When html language appeared some years ago, letters in an html page could have six fixed dimensions. You could select dimension of letters from six standard sizes, H1, H2, H3, H4, H5, H6, with H1 being bigger and H6 smaller size. As you may have understood first pages had their titles in size H1, their subtitles in size H2, smaller titles as H3 and text as H4 or H5 or H6. Search Engines take in special consideration text formatted as H1. The problem is that this size is very big and will spoil appearance of your web page. But it must be done. The solution is to format your title and subtitle as H1 text, then select them again and reformat them using any font and size of letter you want. The html editor, apart from this second information, will also keep information of H1 formatting, but it won’t visualize it. This way, you will have a smaller and elegant title for your visitors and H1 title for Search Engines! In case your html editor won’t do it, then you will have to enter in source of your page and do it manually. Here rules of a good web page optimization end. There is another issue that we must discuss before leaving this section. It is internal linking in your website. By term “internal linking” or “interlinking” I am referring to links in pages of your website that link to other pages of your website. Every page in your website must link at least to home page. When your website will start growing as you will be adding pages with content for your visitors, there will be occasions where you may change menu that appear in a certain web page. In every case you must have a link to your home page in menu or in another section of page. And most important piece of experience for end of this section: NEVER TRY TO FOOL SEARCH ENGINES – NEVER TRY TO FOOL SEARCH ENGINES Many webmasters try to find ways to meliorate importance and relevance of their websites using ambiguous methods, like hidden text, small text, page cloaking and other techniques. Search Engines are becoming smarter and smarter. There are people behind their ranking algorithms. They want to give their visitors best content. For this reason, programmers who construct and maintain programs that calculate importance and relevance of each web page, include in them procedures to locate and punish pages that try to fool them and gain better positions in their listings, not by offering good content and useful links, but by trying to make them believe that they do it. So, prefer to take long road that will safely lead you to your target. Create a nice website, promote it and in time start building content for your visitors. There you will stop. And you will do same for listing of Google for keyword “home based business resource”. The same you will do with “home based business opportunities” and “home based business resources”. They are more than 200 links to request and you will need more than 150 hours of work. If you work 3 hours a day, you will need 50 days, or about 2 months. Which is exactly time needed by Google to find and rank your website from reciprocal links. At this point your web site will be ranked from Google and each one of your pages will receive a Pagerank. If you have worked hard, then your home page will also appear in listing of Search Engines. They usually need 2-3 months to find and examine a new website. Now you are ready to reach websites in first 3 pages for keywords previously mentioned. Nicely and manually request a reciprocal link exchange from each one of them. They will notice LP of your website and your Pagerank and they will respond to your request. These reciprocal links will help your website to climb to top for your keyword faster. Also, since your website will appear in listings of Search Engines, you will start receiving requests for reciprocal link exchanging from other websites. Examine Page Rank, theme and content of each one. If page where these webmaster offer to put your link has a Page Rank, has less than 50-60 other links and theme of website is similar to your website, then accept his proposal and reciprocate link. Otherwise, if page where he intends to put your link does not have a Page Rank or has many links, examine his website and see if you can find a better web page in it. Then propose to him to move your link to that webpage if he wants you to reciprocate his link. If this is not possible, then send him an answer indicating politely reasons that you do not want to exchange links with him for time being. Suggest him, politely again, to communicate with you again in future, in case there are changes in structure of his website and he can offer you a better deal. Time to work – Become persistent – Never stop building your link popularity There is one little secret with link popularity: You can only build it step by step and you must never stop working with it. Do not rush. Dedicate a little time to explore each website and find right web pages to link with or correct link exchange procedure to follow. You may start from a request to a regular link exchange. Or you may ask for a FPLE. Or you can even request an exchange between a web page of this website, other than home page, and one of your equally important web pages (I call this Second Page Link Exchange – SPLE). I suggest that you keep record to each website you link with. Write down name and email address of webmaster, store emails you have exchanged, write URL of web page where link to your web page was placed and rank of this web page and home page of this website. Finally note type of link, regular, FPLE or SPLE. Spend an hour every day to request two new links and process link exchange request you have received from other websites. And never, never stop building your link popularity. Your target must be top, first position of Search Engines. It takes time, requires patience, demands persistence, but, it brings success!
