How Search Engines determine relevance of a web page regarding its theme? Search Engines examine three factors in order to determine relevance of a web page regarding its theme: · The way this keyword is used in specific web page Your “title” metatag must contain keyword twice, one time in beginning and one time in middle of it. And must not exceed 15 words. The “description” metatag must contain keyword twice. And must not exceed 25 words. The “keywords” metatag must not contain same word and keyword more than 6 times. It can be 1000 characters long. If you have pictures in your page, “alt” tag of every picture must be keyword. The text of web page must start with keyword. Must have keyword as its main title. Your subtitles must contain keyword. You must highlight your Titles, so Search Engines will understand that these words are important and take them in special consideration. Never underline a phrase that it is not a link. You will confuse people, giving them impression that this phrase is a link. Your first paragraph must contain keyword in every sentence if possible. Most of links in web page must contain keyword. Also Search Engines examine linking text of outgoing links of your web page and relevance of web pages these links are pointing to, regarding theme of your web page. All these factors count towards calculation of relevance of your web page. Use tool in website indicated here to get your web page analyzed for a certain keyword: http://www.keyworddensity.com/ · The relevance of web pages that link to this specific web page, regarding its theme If you have a page with “home based business” as its theme and this web page get links from 200 other web pages with same or similar theme to “home based business”, then it is considered by Search Engines as a web page that really has to do with “home based business”. · The “linking text” used in links from other web pages pointing to specific web page If 200 pages mentioned above use phrase “Home Based Business” as their linking text to specific web page, then be sure that your web page will be considered as an important web page about “home based business” and will appear among first in relative listings of Search Engines. Follow my instruction and be sure that Search Engines will understand which keyword is your theme and will also decide that relevance of your web page regarding this keyword is high. Now, it’s time to see how Search Engines calculate importance of a web page. Every Search Engine uses its own algorithm to calculate importance of a web page. This algorithm takes in consideration two factors to calculate how important a web page is: - How many links point to specific web page? - How important are web pages that link to specific web page? So, if you have a page linked by 200 other web pages and these web pages are important and relevant to theme of specific web page and their links have right “linking text” also, then your web page will be considered as an important web page about “home based business” and will appear among first in relative listings of Search Engines.This way we arrived to one of most important issues regarding placement of your web pages in listings of Search Engines: The link popularity. Link popularity of a web page is sum of all links that point to that web page. The factors, presented above, define strength and quality of your “link popularity”. Many links from important web pages, who have themes relevant to theme of specific web page and with right linking text will give you strong and focused link popularity. This, carefully built, link popularity will give your web page importance needed to appear in first positions of listing of major Search Engines for keyword requested. As you can see I give specific instructions of “reciprocal links procedure” that I use when I receive a reciprocal links request. You can also set up a separated web page where you can place your link procedure. This is what I have done in www.netincome.gr. I have placed link procedure at http://www.netincome.gr/links-exchange.htm. You can also see that a link to this page exists in menu of website, in “Site Index” at right part of every page. The link to this page is “Home Business Owners – Link Exchange”. Are there going to be other pages in your website? Yes. Initially you need only home page and links structure in order to start building your link popularity. But, as months pass, you must start inserting content in your home page. As you have created a branch in your website, where your link structure resides (with a Links-Index page and all links pages under this one), you may create a resources page and insert more resources pages under this one. These resources can contain articles, links, programs to download, FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions). Keep in mind that every page must have a theme and must be optimized for this theme. This theme must be same with theme of your website or a relative one. These pages will help your link popularity and also will create visitors. A supplementary link exchange technique is also to build link popularity of your resources pages. For example you can include in your resources pages links to other similar pages with resources, which will reciprocate link. But, this is a task that must not be part of your daily work for your first months of existence of your website. You must concentrate your efforts and dedicate all your time in building your link popularity.
