A Simple Strategy for Managing ADDWritten by ADD Coach Jennifer Koretsky
Continued from page 1 can help lift spirits – and self-esteem – of ADDers. Here are some ways in which you can increase time you spend thinking about your strengths and interests: * Make a list of all your accomplishments in life – both large and small – and post this list where you’ll see it often * Make a list of all things you do well, and all things you like to do – and post this list, too * Keep a journal or notebook in which you detail all your daily successes * Accept every compliment you receive with a smile and a “thank you” After you have spent some time thinking about your strengths and accomplishments, you can take this knowledge and self-awareness a step further by setting some small goals for yourself that involve your strengths and interests. If you’re good with people, maybe you’d like to try volunteering at a homeless shelter or senior center. If you like dancing, perhaps you can take a class every week. We all deserve to spend time doing what we like to do, and not just what we have to do. So allow yourself to appreciate your strengths and interests, and treat yourself to luxury of enjoying them! Chances are, it will make you a much happier person.

| | Cetyl Myristoleate for Arthritis Science or SpeculationWritten by Rusty Ford
Continued from page 1
In August of 2002, a double blind study was published in Journal or Rheumatology. The study included sixty-four patients with chronic knee OA. Half of patients received a cetyl myristoleate complex and half a placebo. Evaluations included physician assessment, knee range of motion with goniometry, and Lequesne Algofunctional Index (LAI). The conclusion was that CM group saw significant improvement while placebo group saw little to none. In fact in their conclusion state that CM “may be an alternative to use of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs for treatment of OA”. Advanced Medical Systems & Design, Ltd completed last study I would like to mention in Oct 2001. It was not a double blind study but study included 1814 arthritis patients. The results showed that over 87% of subjects had greater than 50% recovery and over 65% of those showed from 75% - 100% recovery following a sixteen day regimen. I know that this is not most scientific study but a study this large does suggest that there could be a positive benefit to use of CM in treatment of arthritis. Conclusion: There is mounting evidence that CM can be effective in treatment of many forms of arthritis. While it is true that evidence from these three studies can not be considered conclusive, it is a beginning. It should challenge you to think out side box and consider that just because it did not come from a drug company does not mean that it will not work. With over 10,000 people a year dying from Nsaids would it not be great to find a safer and more effective product. Especially with cost of prescription treatments for arthritis costing into hundreds and good Cetyl Myristoleate products can be found for between $20 and $40. Rusty Ford http://arthritis-symptom.com
