4) Your site - In order for someone to be interested in exchanging links with your site you need to have a decent web site. The more content you have better. Is your service that you offer useful? Or maybe you sale things. Does your products have a good description and pictures of products?

5) Why should they? - Tell webmaster why it would be in their best interest to trade links with your web site. Tell them how many visitors you get per month. Also tell them why your site would be a great resource for their visitors.

Some of your linking partners will move your home page link to an internal page after their site becomes established, in which case you can drop all but one of your links to other site. It's still win-win because:

1 - You still have a quality inbound link in exchange for yours.

2 - During time it takes for other site to grow and build a solid rankings foundation in search engines, you're taking advantage of anchor text boost and traffic from home page link!
